Bangabandhu Corner inaugurated in Biam

Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation has set up Bangabandhu Corner on the occasion of 'Mujibvarsha', the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Helaluddin Ahmed, president of the foundation and senior secretary in the local government ministry, inaugurated the Bangabandhu Corner at the Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM)in Eskaton on Wednesday (December 18th), the 49th anniversary of Victory Day.

The Bangabandhu Corner, located in the corridor of the main gate of the Biam Foundation building, houses 28 groups and solo pictures of the Father of the Nation. Besides, there are some books written about Bangabandhu in a small library.

At the inaugural function, Helaluddin praised the BIAM Foundation for setting up the Bangabandhu Corner. He said that although the initiative was taken to set up Bangabandhu Corner before, there was some delay due to Corona infection.

Helaluddin Ahmed, senior secretary of the local government department, said, “Next year we will celebrate the golden jubilee of Victory Day. I will also celebrate the golden jubilee of Independence Day. Not all countries in the world have Independence Day and Victory Day. Pakistan has got the country at the negotiating table with India. They do not have Independence Day. There was no bloodshed to get the country. But we got the country through a people's war. Many countries in Europe and America have become independent without war.

The secretary said, “We, the administrative cadres, have given a strong message. We have been able to convince not only the political parties but also the officials of the administrative cadre that they will not accept any injustice against the sculpture of Bangabandhu.

If Bangabandhu Corner could have made Bangabandhu Corner in one school in all the districts of the country in the same way as Bangabandhu Corner of BIAM Foundation, then BIAM Foundation could have taken their contribution to a unique height.

Helaluddin strongly condemned the demolition of Bangabandhu's sculpture in Kushtia and said that the officers and employees of the republic should unite against it. Protesting against this, he also raised the issue of the meeting organized by the administration cadre. He said, “They have been able to carry out a successful program through the coordination of the administration cadre. Representatives of other cadres also took part in it. Politicians also telephoned him and praised the program.

At this time, he proposed to set up one school and college in each district through Biam Foundation.

Public Administration Secretary Sheikh Yusuf Harun said, "Those who wanted to create controversy over the sculpture of Bangabandhu and their successors never wanted the independence of the country." He also spoke about the eradication of fanatical fundamentalist groups. Later, Helaluddin cut the ribbon and inaugurated Bangabandhu Corner.

Incidentally, Bangabandhu Corner is being set up in various educational institutions, government, private, semi-government and autonomous institutions on the occasion of Mujib Year since last year. This initiative was taken so that the new generation could know about Bangabandhu.
