Asked about this, Ripon Bepari, general secretary of Awami League, Ward 38, said, "I can't say anything against Papon and Mithu."

He said, they did not have any political position, they did not do politics. Now they are involved in politics and extort money by discrediting the party. Because of them, the defectors of the party have become exhausted. Can't speak in fear. At one time they had nothing. Now they own property worth crores of rupees. I don't want to talk about this anymore.

Ward Councilor Abdur Rahman Miaji said, "I went out of Dhaka. People from Mithu and Papun came to my office and beat people. I don't want to say anything about them. You come to the area and search, you will find everything.

Asked repeatedly about extortion, he did not want to say anything out of fear.

"I don't want to talk about it, they will solve my problem later," he said. If you come and find out, then you can see and know everything. I can't say anything like that.

Alauddin used to run a generator business next to Wise Ghat Bulbul Lalito Kala Academy. His business has been taken over. Now Ratan and Khokon are in the business of that generator.

Asked about this, Alauddin said, "I had a generator business." Not now, occupied. Now Ratan and Khokon are in the business of this generator. Somehow I came back with my life. I only survive for my sons and daughters.

Asked about the allegations, Jabed Hossain Papon said, "I don't have any house or car." There is only one house in Keraniganj. I did it with great difficulty.

"There is no evidence that I am extorting money," he said. I have some team people, they don't extort money either. If I have a gambling board in South Plaza, there is a market president. He asked the president to take action against it.

"They are saying these things against me because of local politics," he added. The property I have was even before I got into politics. Now that I do business, I have had property from there.

Asked about the residential hotel, he said, "I have not bought the floor of this hotel alone." I bought it with a few people.

Asked about the allegations of extortion, Jabed Hossain Mithu said, "No one in Sadarghat can say I am extortionist." I have earned all my hard earned money. I live in a rented flat. There are a few shops, the price will not be high. Some people have done this on purpose for political reasons. The traders of the market have made me the chairman of the committee because I am good. There have been various news against me. In protest, the traders have human chained for me.

Awami League Juba League general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil said strict action would be taken if a written complaint was lodged against Papun. If anyone tarnishes the image of the party by doing injustice in Juba League, it will not be tolerated by Juba League. There is no place for any unjust, extortionist in Juba League.
