- A resident doctor of the virology department has been assaulted by an office assistant (MLSS) at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). According to the Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), doctors, including residents, will go on strike.
Monday (February 22) BDF Organizing Secretary. Kawsar Alam said that a resident of Phase-B of the Department of Virology of our Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University has been assaulted by MLSS. Which is extremely sad. Today we will have a strike in the B block of the university with all the doctors including the resident.
"Our demand is that the abuser be arrested and given the maximum punishment," he said. Do not join any resident work until he is arrested. It is a question of our existence. If the university does not sue, the BDF will sue, said Dr. Kawsar.
In this regard, BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. "I was on leave on the day of the incident," Kanak Kanti Barua told the Dhaka Post on Sunday (February 21st) night. Later, when I found out about it, I took action. He has been released from work. A general diary (GD) has already been filed against him. A committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The rest of the work will be completed through this.
Asked if there was any preparation for a case against the employee, the VC of BSMMU said, "Departmental action will be taken against him first." Then the rest of the steps will be taken in phases.
Meanwhile, all the doctors, including the resident, are scheduled to go on strike in the B block of the university on Monday (February 22) in connection with the incident. They demanded the maximum punishment by bringing the employee under the law.
