  • Many police officers have contracted the coronavirus while performing their professional duties during the Corona epidemic. Till December 26, 16,611 members of different ranks of the police have been attacked while providing security at different times including lockdown in different units of the country including DMP. Of these, 72 have died. Among the victims are 8 additional IGPs, 10 DIGs, 19 additional DIGs, 112 police superintendents, 17 additional police superintendents, 228 assistant superintendents of police, 958 inspectors, 300 SIs, 2835 ASIs, 550 Naik, 6,623 constables and 206 others. A total of 18,611 people.

Negative criticism is more noticeable than the commendable work of Bangladesh Police. That image of the police has changed radically through humane behavior in Corona. As the Corona's influence spread throughout the world, Bangladesh also fell into an extreme crisis. And at that time Bangladesh Police came and stood by the side of common people.

Police have been working in the field to implement the lockdown announced by the government at the beginning of the corona in the country. Just as it has been difficult to keep ordinary people at home, so the various needs of the people have been sidelined by the fear of being attacked or dying. Although Corona did not have adequate safety equipment from the beginning, they were fearless to stand by the people. Thousands of police officers and their relatives have been infected while carrying out this humanitarian duty. Many have died. This role of the police has been praised at home and abroad during the Corona period.

During the coronation period, the police were seen giving blood to save the patients, delivering food to the vagrants, on the sidewalks, to the poor, transporting the pregnant women to the hospitals in their own vehicles, bringing rice and pulses to the homes of the poor and migrant workers. In the early days of the Corona outbreak, food was provided to the poor and destitute every day in 50 police stations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Responding to the lofty call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bangladesh Police on the night of March 25, 1971 confronted the Pakhanadar forces armed with modern three-knot-three rifles. In the same way, Corona is working hard to save the people of the country.

Referring to the role of police in Corona, IGP Benazir Ahmed said in a recent program that from the first day of Corona infection in the country, the members of Bangladesh Police have stood by the people without waiting for any kind of personal protection. As a result, many policemen were unknowingly attacked by Corona and gave their lives. The way the police have approached the people, stood by them and given them protection in the present Corona period is undoubtedly commendable. Not only from Bangladesh, people from different parts of the world are also praising Bangladesh Police through social media. As the police chief, I am very proud of this.

The IGP further said that the police in Corona did not just implement quarantine, lockdown; Delivered food to the homes of helpless people, took the sick person to the hospital. When someone died of a corona attack, when no relatives came forward, the police arranged for their funeral, burial and burial. These are not the responsibilities of the police, the police have not been given this responsibility. But why did the police do it? The police have done the job out of a sense of human responsibility. That is why the police have taken place in the jewel of people's hearts today. The Prime Minister has more than once praised the role of the Bangladesh Police.

There are thousands of examples of acclaimed police actions during the Corona. One of them is burying the body of a patient suffering from corona. College teacher Golam Mawla Sadiq (52) died on the night of August 12 last year after being attacked by a corona in Domar, Nilphamari. No one was coming forward to bury him. Just then Domar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mostafizur Rahman arranged for Janaza and burial.

A few days later, Pakhi Mandal died in Dhaka's Dhamrai with corona symptoms. But no relatives came to his body for fear. The corpses lie for hours on end. Upon receiving the news, Dhamrai police appeared. He was buried at Kayetpara crematorium with their help.

The police have been widely praised for standing by the side of pregnant women. In old Dhaka, a pregnant woman with corona was rushed to the hospital and praised by the police. May 16 was the probable date of the woman's birth. On May 6, her labor pains began. The woman's family took refuge in the police as they could not get a car after contacting different places to go to the hospital due to the symptoms of Corona epidemic. He could not go to the hospital without a car. Police later rushed him to the hospital.

Not only that, the police are also guarding the lockdown area, monitoring the people in the quarantine, transporting the coronavirus patient from home to the hospital, assisting in the burial or burial of the dead. Police are also playing a role in ensuring that government relief for needy people is not stolen. All in all, the Corona disaster has created a new humanitarian image for the police. These humane actions of the police have been praised everywhere.

Ordinary people are also appreciating the positive role of the police through various social media. They say police officers and members of the Corona have done a lot of humane behavior, which is appreciated by all. The police have provided services ranging from assisting the victims to the hospital. Many affected families have delivered food to their homes. Police also quietly delivered food to those who did not have food at home, including calling for them to stay at home during the lockdown.

According to police sources, the DMP has distributed cooked food among the needy people in every police station area. Police have distributed health protection materials including masks and sprayed disinfectant water on the streets of different cities of the country including the capital. During the lockdown, the police have made arrangements to cut the ripe paddy of the farmers in different districts of Bangladesh and deliver it to their homes. During the epidemic, many people did not go to the victims for fear of infection, the police have appeared at the risk of their lives.

Just as the police were advancing towards providing more public welfare services with the slogan 'Mujib's Pledge, Police will be the people', people-friendly policing took the form of irresistible human policing. When almost everything in the country was shut down by the deadly coronavirus, the police took the lead. Ignoring everything, they put forward their chests with the determination to protect the people in the Corona War.

Despite hundreds of adversities, the police have to work from the field. When there is no one by the side in this corona crisis, the police members are going and standing by the people. Police rescued the relatives from the road and sent them to the hospital. After the death in Corona, the police have to bury the body. For this reason, the police have to deal with many blows and retaliations first.

Every member of the police has run from town to village to create public awareness. The police have become a real servant to every person in the country by implementing various programs to prevent corona as well as keeping the law and order situation normal.

"Human values, patriotism, humanitarianism have haunted us," said some senior police officials. So we are running endlessly in human service. Thousands of policemen have been injured in the incident. Many have sacrificed their lives. But we do not stop there. The police will devote themselves to the service of the country and the nation till the end of life. The police are fighting as a frontrunner in the Corona situation in the country.

They added that those who once criticized the force for its role in the Corona disaster are now speaking out and praising it. People are respecting and loving the police. Outside of its responsibilities, it is serving the people as a 'humanitarian police'. The police have received unwavering support and praise from the general public for serving the people. The police have taken place in the jewel of people's hearts. Not only from Bangladesh, people from different parts of the world are also praising the police through social media. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has praised the role of the police more than once.

Dhaka Range Police DIG said. Habibur Rahman said the police have always served the people. In any disaster of the country, the police always comes first. The police is the main reliance of the people in any service. People have seen the final form of the epidemic in Corona. Police members have worked at the risk of life in Corona. These humanitarian actions of the police are now in the mouths of the people. Every policeman in the country is committed to ensuring service to the people.

Lockdown in different areas of the capital, clean-up and awareness of the general public have been attacked. A total of 316 people were affected by DMP. 3111 people have recovered. 25 people died.
