JCI DHAKA Uptown's Humane gesture towards underprivileged children

Recently JCI Dhaka Uptown has successfully implemented their first project of the year
“Orphan Aid Project 2021”. The project was based in Narayanganj district in
Sonargaon at the JCI Village. As a part of this project initiative, the organization has been
working for last few months trying to identify orphans in that project area, pre-screening
them, counseling them, and help them find a lodging in a local orphanage in the JCI
Village at Baradi union. On 13th April 2021, JCI Dhaka Uptown has officially announced
the completion of this project. On this very day, the organization has also handed over a
library of books, conducted COVID19 health camps, and donated food items for these
114 orphans. Moreover, the organization has provided the orphanage with a computer
with internet connection so that the existing students can take part in Education Board’s
public exams from that place as a government approved exam center.
Rezwanur Rahnan, Senator and the Local President of JCI Dhaka Uptown said, “We are
thrilled to be able to assist an underprivileged group in overcoming their obstacles of life
by rehabilitating them.” He also added, “These orphans' lives will be transformed for
good. In terms of the long-term effect, this project will ensure that these orphans receive
food, shelter and education as well as the love and attention that they so desperately
need. Moreover, when they develop into valuable members of society, their morality will
improve; they will be motivated by philanthropy and represent humanity in their
interactions with others.”
The project coordinator and chairperson of the committee, Syeda Sabera Arefin (Juthika)
said, “We are a sharing community of active citizens that believes in the power of youths
to transform society. In addition to individual initiatives and government engagement,
community-led youth’s initiative like JCI Dhaka Uptown’s Orphan Aid Project 2021
demonstrates dedication to care for those in need, spreading hope and creating an
impact through this transformation.” She has also expressed her warm gratitude towards
everyone who have supported this project including project partners and the JCI
colleagues.
It’s worth mentioning, by rehabilitating the orphans of that particular project area and
providing food, quality education, and shelter, JCI Dhaka Uptown has not only addressed
the first fours points of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) but also tried to
impact the society by bringing a positive change in the lives of these orphans.
