NRBC Bank is giving loans to backward people of society

Dhaka: NRB Commercial (NRBC) is giving priority to cottage, micro and small scale industries and agriculture sector in remote areas of the country. To reach out to remote areas, technology has moved away from the traditional branch-based banking concept and introduced technology-based sub-branch services. The main goal of the bank is to launch fully digitalized online services from offline. This will make it easier to ensure corporate good governance and compliance of the bank.

NRBC Bank Chairman SM Parvez Tamal made the remarks at a meet-the-press event at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Thursday (December 10th). At the time, the bank's director and chairman of the risk management committee AM Saidur Rahman, entrepreneur Mohammad Ali Chowdhury, managing director. Mukhtar Hossain, Additional Managing Director Kazi. Talha, Kabir Ahmed, Head of International Department and Harunur Rashid, Chief Financial Officer were present.

Speaking on the occasion, SM Parvez Tamal said that the fourth generation NRB Commercial (NRBC) bank is giving loans to the backward people of the society. These loans are being provided through private lending agencies (NGOs). Besides, the bank is setting up booths and sub-branches in various fields giving priority to providing services to the people.

He said NRBC Bank is operating in 550 points across the country. In the last three years, the bank has made significant improvements in financial indicators including deposit collection and loan disbursement.

Parvez Tamal, who has been the chairman since December 10, 2016, added that NRBC is the dream bank of expatriates. The main goal of the bank is to serve the needs of the people with priority. In the meantime, 36 sub-branches have been set up across the country, 90 per cent of which are located in villages. Small loans are being given in collaboration with poor people. In addition to banking services, the fourth generation NRBC Bank is serving about 8.4 million people a year through BRTA licenses, ETINs, online land registration activities. An offshore banking unit has also been inaugurated today to encourage foreign trade.

The
chairman of the advertising bank further said, "Our bank's objective was to bring the money of expatriates to the country's investment and increase remittances." But our bank's license is like any other scheduled bank in the country. As a result, we are facing obstacles in providing the desired services to the expatriates. Discussions are underway with Bangladesh Bank in this regard.

The bank's MD said. Mukhtar Hossain said, "We have stood by the people during the Corona period." The incentive package announced by the government is being implemented well. Besides, the bank is also giving loans on its own initiative. Coronation was a very difficult year in 2020. However, there are many questions about what will happen next year. Bank defaulted loans may increase. However, NRBC Bank is in a relatively good position by taking planned and timely steps. We have taken various precautionary measures.
