Bank statement of journalist Rozina Islam sought

Journalist Rozina Islam's bank account has been summoned by the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) controlled by the central bank. Accounts were summoned in a letter sent to all banks from BFIU on Wednesday (August 11).

If there is an account in any bank in the name of Rozina, the letter asks to send the account opening form, when it was opened, deposit, withdrawal, transaction details, account status and all other information.

according to the national identity card, Rozina Akhter's name is written in the letter. Her father's name is Dead Muslim Mia and mother's name is deleted. Taslima Begum. In place of the address is written the village of Kundihar in Banaripara, Barisal.

Apart from Rozina Islam, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of the central bank has summoned the bank accounts of seven others including actress Parimani, producer Nazrul Islam Raj, Faria Mahbub Piasa, Maryam Akhter Mau and Helena Jahangir.

Rozina Islam, a senior reporter of Prothom Alo, was detained at the health ministry for about six hours on May 16 and handed over to Shahbagh police on the same night after being harassed and tortured. He was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka on May 17 on the grounds that he had been arrested in a case under the Official Secrets Act. Police requested a five-day remand. The court rejected his remand application and ordered him to be sent to jail.

Journalists across the country protested and agitated for the release of Rozina Islam. On May 23, the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court granted his bail application.
