Universities to reopen on May 24, halls on May 17

Classes will start on May 24 in the country's universities and residential halls will be opened on May 16.

The government's decision was announced at a virtual press conference on Monday. Dipu Moni.

He also said that arrangements would be made to vaccinate the residential students and teachers and staff of the university before the commencement of classes and the opening of the dormitory hall.

The announcement came amid protests and breaking of locks at several universities, including Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University, demanding the opening of residential halls.

The education minister said classroom teaching in all universities would start on May 24 after Eid-ul-Fitr. One week before this, the residential halls will be opened on May 16.

However, online classes will continue as before during this period. Teaching in the classroom and no exams will be taken. He said that all the examinations will be taken after the commencement of teaching in the classroom.

The education minister has also instructed those who are staying in residential halls to leave the halls soon.
