Allegation of plagiarism in PhD research has been leveled against Mohsina Akter Khanam (Leena Tapsi Khan), An associate professor in the music department of Dhaka University (DU). 277 page study with 15 chapters titled 'Use of Anger (Rāgēr byabahār) in Nazrul's Music' was published in 2010. Later in 2011 it was published in book form. The book has a total of 15 chapters. Of these, 152 pages of 11 have been published without any reference to various authors and books.

According to department sources, He presented it as a PhD thesis in May 2010. In 2016, Leena Tapsi Khan was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. When Nazrul Academy published his thesis in book form in 2011, the issue of copying different parts of it came to the fore.

This is a big theft. I received a complaint. I can't say what can be done or not done at the moment. These works undermine the quality of our university. The issue is expected to come up in the next syndicate meeting. We'll talk when we get up. And if such allegations are proved, he will be punished

Professor Iffat Ara Nargis, former director general of the National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) affiliated to the Ministry of Education, has recently lodged complaints in six departments, including the university's vice-chancellor and vice-chancellor.

According to the allegation, Leena Tapsi Khan copied about 152 pages out of 277 pages in the book 'Use of Anger (Rāgēr byabahār) in Nazrul Sangeet' from different books. Much of the information on the remaining pages is also inaccurate.

It has been seen in the review of the complaint that the name of the first chapter of the book is 'Classification of Nazrul's songs'. The length of this chapter is four and a half pages. Although the title of the chapter is about the name of Kazi Nazrul Islam's song, its two and a half pages are about the classification of Rabindranath's songs. The remaining two pages are written about the classification of Nazrul's songs. The writings of this chapter are taken from Rabindranath's 'Gitabitan' and 'Nazrul-Gitika'.

In the second chapter, he mentions the song 'Joy Narayan Ananta Rupdhari' and mentions that the raga is created by Nazrul. However, Rabindranath Tagore also composed songs in this special rage of Bishnupur gharana ('Bahe Nirantar Ananta Anandadhara'). Although the song composed by Nazrul is of Nishashak Rag, the Rag is not Nazrul-created.

In the third chapter, Leena Tapsi has given a list titled 'Nazrul's original song and broken song'. Nazrul's song 'A Ki Tandra Bijrit Ankhi' has been mentioned as the broken song in the second number of this list. In fact, the song is not composed by Nazrul. Its author is Tulsi Lahiri.

In the fourth chapter, the article titled 'Use of anger (Rāgēr byabahār) in the song of thumri ang' has been taken exactly from 'Idris Ali, Nazrul-Sangeeter Sur', Nazrul Institute, Dhaka, 1998 without any instruction.

The text 'Use of Ghazal Rage' in the fifth chapter is also taken from 'Idris Ali, Nazrul-Sangeeter Sur', Nazrul Institute, Dhaka, 1998 without reference.

In the sixth chapter, the line 'Use of anger in Tappa song', the line 'Tappa was born from ancient Besra song' has been taken exactly from 'Idris Ali, Nazrul-Sangeeter Sur', Nazrul Institute, Dhaka, 1998.

In the seventh chapter titled 'Use of anger ( Rāgēr byabahār) in qazri, bhajan and shyama music', the researcher wrote, 'Thir hey tui bos dekhi ma' is his own (Leena Tapsi Khan) song. In the beginning of the song, the use of rag bilabal is seen using rag ashabari. In fact, this song is composed to the tune of Manoharshahi style prevalent in Bengali kirtan songs. If we want to indicate the raga of this song, it can be called the mixed division prevalent in Bishnupur gharana.

Seven pages have been taken in the text of the tenth chapter 'Nazrul Rachit Lakshman Geet' without any information from 'Idris Ali, Nazrul-Sangeeter Sur', Nazrul Institute, Dhaka, 1996.

In the eleventh chapter, about 5 pages are taken from the same place in 'Use of Southern Raga in Nazrul-Sangeet'

Leena Tapsi has named the thirteenth chapter as 'Nazrul-created some rages and captives'. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee, a Nazrul researcher from West Bengal, is not the author of the captives mentioned in this chapter. This part has been copied and printed without acknowledging any kind of book-loan from the book titled 'Nazrul Srishta Rag O Bandish'.

Leena Tapsi Khan has resorted to similar thefts in the fourteenth chapter of her book titled 'Nazrul's Bhanga Kheyal and Fayyaz Khan's Main Prisoner'. Exactly duplicate of this chapter from 197 to 244 from the book titled 'Fayazi Aloke Nazrul-Sangeet' by Kakli Sen. Here the table of 16 songs has been scanned exactly without reference. The information of the song from 11 to 15 has been given twice while trying to copy it exactly.

The indictment states that in the 260-page text, the 80-page notation was copied and inserted as the original text. Which is immoral. This 80-page notation could have been included in the appendix. This notation is not supposed to have a place in the main text. This is also a kind of theft. The 26-page book includes 60 pages of notation, 26 pages of Shyamprasad Mukhopadhyay's book, 48 pages of Kakli Sen's book and 18 pages of appendix. Which is not the work of Leena Tapsi Khan. These are taken exactly from other people's books. The remaining 101 pages are also taken from Idris Ali's book 'Nazrul Sangeeter Sur' published in 1998 from Nazrul Institute, Dhaka. But Leena Tapsi Khan denies it.

Professor Iffat Ara Nargis, former director general of Naeem, told  about the allegation: But the book has been named 'Nazrul-use of anger in music'.

He added, “A university teacher can never get a chance to teach by forging PhD research. It does not go with Dhaka University. I have filed these chargesheets in six places including the Vice Chancellor of the University. I hope the university administration will take the matter seriously.

Asked about the allegations, Mohsina Akhter Khanam alias Leena Tapsi Khan told ,This book is mine. If there is any problem in it, the university will look into it. I can't say anything about it. '

In this regard, the vice-chancellor of the university. Muhammad Samad told , 'This is a big theft. I received a complaint. I can't say what can be done or not done at the moment. These works undermine the quality of our university. The issue is expected to come up in the next syndicate meeting. We'll talk when we get up. And if such allegations are proved, he will be punished.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman told , 'I have received such a complaint. It's not time to read yet. I'll read it. And we are very strict about these things. No matter who the culprit is, no one will be spared. '
